Sisvel is granted injuction in the Netherlands on cellular SEPs

Luxembourg, March 16 2020

The district court of The Hague (the Netherlands) granted injunctive relief to Sisvel on 26 February 2020, after it filed complaint for infringement.

This is the second injunction granted in Sisvel’s litigation effort in the context of its Mobile Communication Program (MCP). In September 2019, the court of Mannheim (Germany) granted Sisvel also an injunction on the basis of a patent from the same pool portfolio of cellular standard essential patents. David Muus, program manager of the MCP pool said: “We hope that these decisions will contribute to a platform for balanced discussion, between rights owner and implementer, especially the company subject to this injunction. We hold good hopes for reasonable resolution of infringement through licensing. Until then, we will continue to protect the effort, interest and rights of innovators and licensees to the best of our ability.”

The Sisvel MCP is a patent pool that licenses cellular (2G, 3G, 4G) standard essential patents, which are owned by a variety of companies, including Airbus DS, KPN, Mitsubishi Electric, Orange, Sisvel and 3G Licensing.
