Even before its official publication by IEEE, the 802.11ax (“Wi-Fi 6”) Standard has been pervasive in the market. Increased average throughput per user -the standard itself talks about a fourfold increase- and increased number of concurrent users in high density scenarios (e.g., offices, campuses, airports, stadiums, etc.) are among the main benefits of Wi-Fi 6 when compared to Wi-Fi 5. Wi-Fi 6 has brought wireless connectivity to a whole new level. Additional information about the technological advances of Wi-Fi 6 and how it enhances and enables existing and new applications can be found on Sisvel’s blog.
Sisvel’s Wi-Fi 6 Patent Pool offers a one-stop shop solution to license all standard essential patents owned or controlled by the participating patent owners, which include some of the most active participants and technical contributors to the Wi-Fi 6 standardization process.
All participating patent owners have submitted a negative LoA with respect to the IEEE 2015 updated IPR Policy and/or are committed to license on FRAND terms, in adherence with the IEEE IPR Policy in effect prior to March 15, 2015.
Licensees of Sisvel’s Wi-Fi 6 Patent Pool will have the option to adopt the Licensing Incentive Framework for Technologies (LIFT): a new royalty scheme created by Sisvel. Sisvel is committed to creating licensing terms that work for patent owners and technology implementors, that help shorten technology time to market, accelerate market penetration, and level the playing field. LIFT is just the latest example of this commitment. More details can be found here and on Sisvel’s blog.
