Last week, we announced a major Sisvel milestone when we secured the 30th licensee to our Wi-Fi 6 pool after an amicable negotiation. Getting to such an impressive number has taken less than three years. In fact, 20 of the programme’s licensees have been secured over the last 18 months. That is serious momentum. What’s more, companies accounting for close to 37% of global Wi-Fi 6 sales are licensed under patents included in the pool. The pace of progress and the level of market penetration show that the programme has already become an important solution. The signs are that it will become even more significant over the coming months.
Elsewhere, Nokia released its Q1 2025 financial results. These showed a significant increase in the company’s annual royalties run rate. There was also news of a setback for the EU in one of its SEP-related disputes with China at the WTO, while Datang announced it had reached a wireless communications cross-licensing deal with Lenovo.
