After a detailed consultation process involving patent owners and implementers, royalties are to be reduced by two-thirds

The best patent pools are not static. They exist to provide simple, efficient, transparent access to world class technology, and to aid its adoption. That means working with patent owners and implementers to ensure that the offering makes sense to both. It also means listening. This is something that Sisvel makes sure to do on a constant basis. Nowhere is this more the case than with regards to our Wi-Fi 6 pool.

When the programme launched in 2022, it had a compliant rate of $3 and a standard rate of $3.60 for enterprise products. For other products, the rates were $0.50 and $0.60 respectively. These latter rates have been widely accepted by the market and have driven the vast majority of the 32 licensing deals the Wi-Fi 6 pool has so far concluded.

Following detailed consultation with the market, and in close cooperation with the eight companies that currently offer their patents through the Wi-Fi 6 pool, we are now able to lower our rates for enterprise products to $1 (compliant) and $1.20 (standard). This is a substantial reduction to the original rate, and we are confident that it will stimulate faster take-up of our licence offer in this area, so accelerating the adoption of the technology.
