Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (“DECT”) is a family of standards developed by the European Telecommunications Standardization Institute (“ETSI”) for digital portable phones (cordless telephones) used for both domestic and business purposes. DECT can also be used for wireless broadband data transfer. DECT is recognized by the International Telecommunications Union (“ITU”) as fulfilling the IMT-2000 requirements and thus qualifies as a 3G system. Over 100 countries have allocated frequency bands for use by devices conforming to the DECT Standard. Such devices include, but are not limited to, cordless telephones, wireless headsets, and baby monitors.
Sisvel Cordless LLC has the exclusive right to grant non-exclusive licenses for several patents owned by Telecom Italia S.p.A. that relate to the DECT Standard. Sisvel offers worldwide non-transferable, non-assignable, non-exclusive licenses under these patents (with no right to sublicense).
