LTE (Long Term Evolution) and LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) represent the fourth generation (in short 4G) of mobile communications developed through the 3GPP. The 4G technology provides faster broadband data transmission with significantly reduced latency, this enhancement allows an improved user experience on more sophisticated mobile services. SAE (System Architecture Evolution), synonymous with Evolved Packet System, or EPS, is the improvement of Packet Switched technology to cope with the faster data rates and rapid growth in IP traffic anticipated with LTE and LTE-A.
Sisvel’s LTE/LTE-A patent pool offers manufacturers and users of 4G devices licenses under patents essential to LTE/LTE-A and SAE held by any of the participating patent owners, together with 4G essential patents originally filed by Nokia Corporation that Sisvel acquired in late 2011. The pool also remains open to new patent owners.
In terms of technical scope, Sisvel’s pool portfolio license offers the broadest coverage of the standard specifications available through a joint licensing program, including both the Radio Access Specifications covered by 3GPP’s 36 series and other specifications of 3GPP required to implement an LTE/LTE-A and SAE system.
