KAIST joins Sisvel 5G Multimode patent pool
LUXEMBOURG, 5 November 2025 - The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) has become the newest licensor in Sisvel’s 5G Multimode patent pool.
KAIST joins 16 other rights holders that make their SEP portfolios available via the programme, which provides access to 3G, 4G and 5G rights through a single, efficient transaction. The terms of the pool licence offer remain unchanged, with the royalty for 5G multimode devices fixed at $0.50 per unit.
One of South Korea’s most prestigious academic institutions, KAIST is a valued Sisvel partner that also participates in the AV1 and VP9 video codec licensing programmes.
“I am delighted to welcome KAIST to the 5G Multimode pool,” says Programme Manager Donald Chan. “KAIST is one of the world’s leading research universities, with a long and successful track record of contribution to connectivity standards. We’re proud that KAIST has chosen to license its cellular portfolio through Sisvel’s platform, and we look forward to working together to power innovation.”
