NEC joins Sisvel Cellular IoT pool as a licensor
Luxembourg, 26 November – Japanese multinational NEC has become the latest patent owner to join Sisvel Cellular IoT as a licensor. The pool, a one-stop solution for LTE-M and NB-IoT rights, now offers a single licence covering 37 standard essential patent (SEP) portfolios.
NEC is the latest major technology company from Japan to sign up to the programme, following Kyocera and Panasonic earlier this year. Sisvel Cellular IoT launched with 20 patent owners in 2022 and has steadily attracted new participants as market awareness grows.
Independent patent landscape studies have confirmed that the Sisvel Cellular IoT licence covers over 50% of all LTE-M and NB-IoT SEPs. IoT device makers can gain access to all these rights through one fast and easy transaction, with rates starting at just $0.08 per device.
“We are delighted to welcome NEC to Sisvel Cellular IoT,” says programme manager Sven Torringer. “NEC is a major contributor to cellular network technologies. The company’s decision to join the pool further enhances the value the pool provides to IoT device makers and the level of predictability we create for the industry. We look forward to working with the NEC team to help cellular connectivity solutions to thrive in the competitive IoT market.”
