Introduction

Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode brings together 10 leading patent owners and two generations of the IEEE 802.11 standard under one pool licence.

Building on the groundbreaking success of Sisvel’s Wi-Fi 6 patent pool, the programme makes it simple and straightforward to access Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard essential patents through a single agreement.

The founding members of the pool are Huawei, KPN, Mitsubishi Electric, Orange, Panasonic, Philips, Sisvel, SK Telecom, Wilus and ZTE.

Sisvel has the right to grant licences to all Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 standard essential patents owned or controlled by the following patent owners:

Patents

Sisvel has the right to grant licences to all Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 standard essential patents owned or controlled by the participating patent owners.

All patent families included in the Wi-Fi Multimode pool undergo an essentiality evaluation by certified independent evaluators. You can find an overview of the Wi-Fi Multimode pool's portfolio in our Patent Brochure.

The table in the Patent Brochure allows interested parties to understand how the SEPs offered under this licence are utilised by products complying with the 802.11ax and 802.11be standards and, to this end, indicates the relevant sections of the standard. This document will be updated regularly.

Licence Terms

The royalty rates of this licence are offered on a per product basis as follows:

[2] Access points with enterprise grade performance, which provide wireless connectivity for devices and are intended and marketed for professional, business or commercial use in high density environments. More details can be found in the template sublicence agreement below.

Provided that a licensee is in full compliance with its obligations under its licence agreement, the royalty rate payable for each licensed product shall be the compliant rate.

LIFT

Licensees of Sisvel’s Wi-Fi Multimode patent pool will have the option to adopt the Licensing Incentive Framework for Technologies (LIFT), an innovative royalty scheme created by Sisvel.

LIFT is only available for companies that Sisvel and/or any of the pool’s patent owners have or have had no reason to initiate litigation against for being unwilling to take a pool licence. LIFT is only available for licensees which are in full compliance with their obligations under their licence agreement. A bank guarantee may be required.
